There are two license types available under which the Bernese GNSS Software can be obtained: research and commercial. The main distinction between these license types is the intended use of the software and the results obtained:
- The research license does not allow any commercial use of the software and results obtained with it.
This license type is appropriate for universities or other institutions engaged in scientific research and education activities.
This is a site license. - The commercial license does allow commercial use of the software and results obtained with it.
This license type is appropriate for companies or agencies, which intend to use the software and results obtained with it in commercial activities.
The commercial license is available in two versions, unlimited and limited:- the limited license is a single workstation license and has a limit concerning the maximum possible number of parallel running processes, which is limited to 8 under this license. This may result in slower processing times compared to the other licenses.
- the unlimited license is a site license and has no limit regarding the number of parallel running processes.
Licenses are permanent, they do not expire. Licenses may be upgraded (e.g. from limited to unlimited, or from research to commercial. See the following sections for the procedure to acquire a new license or for upgrading existing licenses.
